The Royal Institution (Ri) is a charitable organisation that encourages people to think more deeply about the wonders and applications of science, through a wide range of programmes and activities.  These include the Christmas Lectures, public talks the historic lecture theatre; a national programme of Masterclasses for young people; hands-on workshops in the L’Oreal Young Scientist Centre; animations and films from the Ri YouTube Channel and the preservation of scientific legacy through the Faraday Museum and archival collections.

The Ri Masterclass programme opens young people’s eyes to the diversity of Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Science through series of UK-wide extracurricular workshops at both primary and secondary level.

Teachers and schools join our programme in a variety of ways from nominating their students to attend local workshops through to running a Masterclass series for the benefit of students in their own community. We offer exciting school STEM projects that can be used to connect sixth-form and primary students together, and a wealth of fun resources to support teachers and community Masterclasses.
